A R G U S AnchorTAG

is ideal for pleasure craft and commercial and navy vessels equipped with stockless anchors

  • A R G U S AnchorTag for pleasure craft

A R G U S AnchorTag system comprises of a Transmitter on the anchor shank between the anchor and the chain, Receiver, and a handheld Monitor.

  • A R G U S AnchorTag for commercial shipping/navy

A R G U S AnchorTag system. for vessels with Stockless anchors is comprised of a Transmitter bolted to the anchor shank, a magnetic pickup and Receiver on the gypsy or riding chock, and a handheld Monitor.

Transmitter

Transmitter is mounted on the shank of the anchor and transmits data acoustically to a Receiver

  • Roll Angle: a direct relationship to holding force, indicating likelihood of pull-out and dragging.

  • Pitch Angle: an early warning of possible anchor movement, rises as chain tension increases.

  • Speed: the anchor is moving at during setting, pull-out, dragging and re-setting.

Receiver

Receiver receives, decodes and processes data from the Transmitter

  • Data is received via a hydrophone lowered into the water during periods of anchoring. When not in use the hydrophone is stowed in a holding bag with the Receiver and Monitor.

  • It processes data from up to two anchors paired to the system

  • It relays the data to a hand-held monitor by wireless.

Monitor

Monitor receives and displays real time anchor status on an LCD screen

  • It presents instantaneous anchor orientation images with Roll, Pitch and Speed data.

  • It stores historical data that can be downloaded to a laptop.

WHY A R G U S AnchorTag

  • ANCHORING RISK

Anchoring is one of the most dangerous conditions for a ship because improper anchoring can lead to anchor drag, poor holding, and unexpected vessel movement, increasing the risk of grounding, collisions, and loss of control. Factors like strong currents, high winds, weak seabeds, and improper anchor setting can cause the anchor to fail, leaving the ship vulnerable. Additionally, lack of real-time monitoring delays response to anchor dragging, worsening potential dangers.

  • SOLUTION TO ANCHORING RISK

A R G U S AnchorTag is the perfect anchoring solution because it provides real-time monitoring of anchor roll, pitch, and speed, ensuring early drag detection and preventing vessel drift. Its wireless and acoustic technology delivers instant alerts, enhancing safety and control. By eliminating guesswork, A R G U S AnchorTag protects both ships and marine ecosystems, making anchoring smarter and more secure.

  • A R G U S AnchorTag is an advanced anchoring security system designed to provide real-time monitoring of your anchor's status. It utilizes sophisticated acoustic and wireless technology to transmit data on the anchor's roll, pitch, and speed directly to a display onboard your vessel. This allows you to observe the anchor's orientation, detect early signs of movement, and monitor its speed during setting or dragging.

Forpleasure craft, the system comprises a transmitter attached to the anchor shank between the anchor and the chain, a floating receiver, and a handheld monitor.

In commercial shipping or navy vessels with stockless anchors, the setup includes a transmitter bolted to the anchor shank, a magnetic pickup and receiver on the gypsy or riding chock, and a handheld monitor.

The A R G U S AnchorTag system operates on a long-lasting rechargeable battery, capable of delivering up to 1 year of service on a single charge. When needed, the battery can be easily recharged using a USB port, ensuring seamless operation without frequent maintenance.

  • A R G U S AnchorTag is compatible with all anchor types and anchor chains, regardless of what is installed on your vessel.

Only requirement for the successful installation is that distance from the Winch/Capstan to the Bow Roller exceeds 300 mm

  • Yes! If your yacht operates with two anchors, we offer an additional anchor module that seamlessly connects to your existing AnchorTag system, ensuring full compatibility and functionality.

  • Even with a skilled crew, A R G U S AnchorTag provides an extra layer of precision and real-time insights that other vessel monitoring methods can’t offer. It continuously monitors key anchoring data of anchor roll angle, chain pitch angle, and anchor velocity—giving you instant awareness of what’s happening below the surface.

A R G U S AnchorTag doesn’t replace the captain or crew but enhances decision-making with real-time intelligence, helping to prevent anchor drag and improve safety. It acts as an extra set of "eyes and ears" at the anchor, ensuring greater confidence and control in any anchoring situation.

  • By detecting and alerting the crew before an anchor starts dragging, A R G U S AnchorTag helps prevent damage to delicate seabed ecosystems. Anchors that shift unexpectedly can rip up marine habitats in minutes, harming coral, seagrass, and other vital underwater life.

With real-time monitoring, A R G U S AnchorTag supports responsible anchoring, helping sailors minimize their environmental impact and protect the ocean for future generations. 🌊⚓

  • Anything that gives peace of mind that your anchor is set and holding is good. Any warning that tells the crew that the anchor is dragging is good. Motor boats generally run 24hr watches. We as a smaller crew a typical setting of the hook would be the norm or "long stay" on the chain and no drag, transit on the shore and pressure with the engine. I generally text the crew that it's a low wind night and off to bed with an alarm on the wind and the anchor. No watch. But, if a catabatic came and we were on a lea shore and in 10m it means we are close to that shore, always a worry. So, if i had an alarm to let me know immediately that we had dragged it would buy me more time to react and get the crew rallied to get control. Short answer is yes!
